One thing to note: The orgininal maker of the ammo has lost the contract. Fiochi I believe it was. New maker is going to be different. Don't know who yet.
.22 Overcrowded? Sure it is. But out of all the many cartridges out there the 5.7 really is unique.

I shot with Chris Costa at LRI. Dude is quite the shooter. The video says he is a Former trainer... that's not true. He's still training. We are looking at brining MagPul Dynamics to our Range for a training session.
One of the things I like about the Masada/ACR is that it doesn't ape any other weapon system... it's actually engineered from the ground up - improving everything. Switching from one caliber to another is handy. Not a critical function, but a handy one.
Let's just go ahead and order them. One for everyone.

It's rumored that one did, but this is unconfirmed.

If TC made a barrel for it - I'd have it. Encore rifle and pistol barrels should be made available.

Basic marksmanship firt and foremost.
Reloads second.
After that, then speed.

I've been reading some stuff about what's going on in Canada and you have basically two options. Stay where Canada is, and toss the whole thing into the bin and ruin the country for the sake of Liberal stupidity.
Re: Sig P225/P6
October 13, 2008 by madogre
The P255 is a true Gem of a pistol. It does everything well and has little downsides.
I just don't really care for the caliber all that much, but it will do.
I wonder if a clever gunsmith could convert that to a .40.
Re: Ogre Truck
October 13, 2008 by madogre
Engine was blue-printed and yes, it's chipped. Damn near every truck is chipped out here. BFG AT's and Chips are the only way things roll here. If you've never been out here, it's hard to express the magnitude of that statement. This is Truck Country like no other location I've ever seen - and I've been all around this big beautiful country. Lots of places like their trucks... but not like here.
Oh, and it's sporting a huge Rockford Fosgate amp under the driver's seat. The dash has a perfect spot to mount the Valentine One, which was only an offer for one of The Horde... otherwise, I'm keeping that thing forever.
Best Hollywood Gunfights
October 12, 2008 by madogre
Micheal Mann is the best director when it comes to gun battles.
His films should be studied by anyone wanting to film a gun fight. That is how it is done.
HEAT and Miami Vice are the best of the best.
The battles are loud and stark and everything happens fast... like a real gun fight.

This one is gas. It's tweaked. The horsepower is enough to make NASA raise its eyebrows. Yet the economy is actually very good. This was the combination I was looking for. This truck has everything I wanted.
I'm only 3 short.
Re: Red Dot Sights
October 12, 2008 by madogre
Still. Seeing your buddy shot through the eye socket from 600 yards away by an average American GI... you will want to keep your head down.
The US Army sucks at marksmanship.... it just does. I know this. We all know this. Past 300, we call for ordinance. Instead of that expensive use of resources, we should be able to take a rifle, aim it well, and hit the target - putting it down.
If I was Emporer of America, we'ld lose the .223 guns ASAP and go with .308 rifles. If a soldier complains about the weight - they get to do more pushups.
Re: Red Dot Sights
October 12, 2008 by madogre
A Rifleman, any rifleman should be able to engage to 500 yards no matter what. With a magnifying optical gunsight, he should be able to go out to 800. Snipers, further yet. I believe marksmanship should become the primary focus of military training during boot camp. And it should continue. Shooting should always be a priority.

I've watched it. Very strange. Very strange indeed.

You both FAIL.
You both neglected "THE THING". Either the original or the John Carpenter remake.
EPIC FAIL!
YOU FAIL AT HORROR!

I think the question of his birth cert had best be put to rest before the election.
Talking to some legal scholars here, if the election is invalidated by such an event, the Presidency would go to the opposing party.

Imagine this... a CZ 527 Carbine in this caliber, with a suppressor on it... shooting Hornady V-Max bullets.
Tell me you couldn't find some urban application for that tool.
Re: Skateboard on steroids

What I don't get is the huge expendature of money and effort. Because no matter how quick and smokey it is... it's still a SMART Car.
I'd rather have seen them turn all that work over into something like a Mazda Miata or something.
Re: What's in your pocket?
October 12, 2008 by madogre
I've not seen the Camillus you mention, but I have seen a couple others that were quite nice. (Had to chuckle at that screen name)
CRKT Bear Claw... those are very good defensive blades. Unfortunately they are not very good at much else other than opening the post.
I don't like knives that curve the wrong way. Like the Spyderco Harpy. There was a time when I thought they were the bee's knees... but then a realized that the lack of actual utility was a hinderance.
Of course, Khorn, you living in the asshole of the nation and you need a serious defensive tool... so for you it's great.
I like knives that have a bit of a belly to the blade. I find that shape to be much more usefull for most tasks. During a slice it keeps the cutting edge on the matterial longer.
Don't really like Tanto blades either, for the same reasons.
Re: WHITE MUZZLELOADING
October 12, 2008 by madogre
Unfortunately White is out of business.
Yeah, they made some great guns and since they are/were local here... everyone around here has them. It's really too bad. I think the company got bought and sold a time or too, but they just failed for some reason. Most likely mismanagement.
Re: 5.7 is win
October 12, 2008 by madogre
The .223 Remington is a great small game hunting round.
Now, I don't say this much... but I'm going to say it here... it's too much gun for hunting for fur. I shot a fox with it, standard .223 Hollow Point, 50 grains I think it was.
Blew that little fox apart so bad, the pelt was ruined. The 5.7 is not as hot, and actually enters into the Just Right catagory for fur hunters - much like the .22 Hornet. Just that the Hornet is expensive and it doesn't carry as well at range as the 5.7x28.
So it's perfect for the fur hunting application.
What is also perfect, is the Light Rifle. Like the Remington Model 7 or the CZ 527. It's the combination of these two ideal purposes, make for the ideal fur hunting package.
And not just for fur huntings. Remember the phrase "Squirrel Rifle"? That's what this is. Doesn't destroy so much meat, has farther reach, and greater accuracy to fill the stew pot much easier.
And yes, you can reload for the 5.7x28. Load that sucker up with those light Barnes Varmint Grenade bullets... Fantastic stuff there.
Great accuracy. Zero recoil. Cheap to shoot. Yet allows the use of premium grade hunting bullets that allow you to buy or build the perfect load for your application.
This is a round that has no downsides, yet is overlooked because FN is only putting it in their freaky little space guns... and all the gun rags are going nuts over the .17 Fireball for the same purpose - which is again, a more expensive cartridge. One box of 20 .17 Fireballs costs the same as one box of 50 5.7's. See what I'm getting at?
Re: Savage MK-II
October 11, 2008 by madogre
The Accutrigger really is a gimick. The silver bit is a safety catch. If it didn't have that catch - the accutrigger would be flat out dangerous. I don't like it. It's Savage's way of cheating to get a decent trigger, by having the sear sit on so little metal, instead of just cleaning up the metal that is there.
Just my opinion. But so many dude groove on the Accutriger... so I guess it's fine for most.
My Savage rifle... I specifically got the one I got - because it has a regular old trigger and not the Accutrigger.

We've some issues with the Marlins, in there actions. While they are similar to the Savages, I'd take the Savage.
Actually... no... I'd save a few more bucks and spring for the CZ.

Simple, strong, well made knife with a 154CM blade. Not the Tactical type... but I rotate my blades around. Yesterday it was my Columbia River "My Tighe". Tomorrow it will probably be my modified AK-47 from Cold Steel... but this Leatherman is what I'm rolling with at the momement.

What I don't get about Trek is how so many guys go Ga-ga over "Seven of Nine". She isn't even pretty. She's rather butch looking but with big cones. I've not impressed with her at all. The facial appliances = alien or other non-human thing is STUPID. I want aliens to look like freaking aliens. Ridges on the forehead do not look alien - they look retarded.
