The reason for the $250 difference is evident, say..Italian versus Pakistani. That Pedersoli looks badass.
And seriously, BBs and blackpowder weapons DO NOT mix.

Cold Steel's are cool, but these guys have more soul. Oh, and yeah, they're functional.

Where the HELL do you find these. Awesome.

Re: Here's an Idea

October 3, 2008 by elbuscador

Here, here on the two point.
The problem with the old school fix, which most of us used, was one; sight picture could be occluded, and two; if you had to rock and roll, the heated gas tube would often melt the sling, or 550 cord, depending on how you rigged it. That's where that wire rig they issued in the early 90s came in handy. The side mount swivels we have today obviously squared this away.
I like the one point, though cheapskate that I am, when I go one point I use 550 and a carabiner (doesn't work too well without an IBA)The shortcoming is when you're searching, or securing badguys, keeping your weapon out of the way is a bitch. SO, that's why I like the two point, but that's just me. And MSG Vickers. And Ogres everywhere.

Re: Here's an Idea

That'll be the day. Why give or sell them to Joe when they can get what they paid for them selling them to third world countries that buy them with $ we loan them?
That, and how many Joes would pay the tax stamp?
I had guys interested in buying our M24s when they went away for the SASSs. Boltguns fer chrissakes!and there wasn't a way to do it.
On the same note, last Summer we had a woman approach our Bn. because her husband was in it in WWII in the Pacific. She had his BAR and Thompson he'd just walked off the boat with when he got home! How cool is that?
My dad scored his .45, a Nambu, a .30 Carbine, two Arisakas and a sword...but a BAR? That's serious.
Good idea though Khorne.

Re: Anime/Manga...

Man, now I feel old, nobody mentioned Akira or Golgo 13. Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop are the shit though.Understand they're gonna do a live action Cowboy Bebop.
Guess I better head over to Netflix, thanks for the tips!
If you want to check out something that's not exactly anime, but is Japanese and disturbing, check out Tetsuo;the Iron Man.

Re: New Scope for my "Tactical" rifle

October 1, 2008 by elbuscador

One of my guys has a Burris Tactical on his personal rifle. Has the mildot with the ballistiplex at the six o'clock. Badass, best of both worlds for the $, rangeing and BDC. I've shot the ballistiplex on four different paltforms in three different calibers and they work. I'm pretty much an optics snob, but for the $ they work.
(And the OD ones look cool.)

"Firefly" League

October 1, 2008 by elbuscador

Ogre brought this up once somewhere, but are there any shooters out here that would be interested in a "Cowboy Action" style competition where one doesn't have to dress up? and where you can use loads with velocities faster than continental drift? I can clean house with my Vaquero and Marlin94 in most three gun courses of fire, but take it in the shorts on reloads.
And personally, I'd rather spend $ on ammo than costumes. I gave up cowboying some years ago, otherwise I'd have the hat...Thoughts?

Re: Tricked out weapon

October 1, 2008 by elbuscador

Damn Gman, you don't fuck around. Looking to give Krebs a run for his $? Well done.

I'm still gonna side with Skaramine and plug for keeping, I'd keep that badboy retro. Maybe even make it moreso, wood pistol grip and either an authentic folding stock or wood stock. When most of our captured weapons were mostly AKMs, not 47s, those funky foregrips were common.

Littlelebowski brought up some outfit that makes an unobtrusive CCO mount somewhere, either here or at LRI. You might check out the new Aimpoint Micro, that way your optic won't look like socks on a rooster.

Just my lame opinion though, I like my AKs with soul, but the uparmored ones definitely have their place.

Re: Semi-Auto PPS-43 Build

October 1, 2008 by elbuscador

The kits for the PPSH 41 look pretty tempting as well. I know the real things're damn fun. That round is badass.also wouldn't mind a Tokarev in it. Well... two, for when watching John Woo flicks.
Know a guy who built a couple stens, and they turned out pretty well. Of course he took it a step too far and the ATF wasn't pleased.
Don't know if any of you guys are old enough to remember one of Harry Harrison's early books "Rebel in Time". So simple the confederacy could build them:-)

Re: Tricked out weapon

September 29, 2008 by elbuscador

I'm not big on tricking out AKs, but that's me. The one mod I did with mine was the Krebs peep that replaces the buckhorn,

Re: RPK-74

September 26, 2008 by elbuscador

That round is a smoker, but I'll pleed ignorance. Never heard of the platform. The Veprs do great with that receiver though.

Re: High speed vidoe of scope and barrel flexing

September 23, 2008 by elbuscador

1.5 to 2"? Hmm. All our M110s shoot sub MOA. Guess we're pogues too.

Re: Thinking about a new "tactical" rifle.

September 19, 2008 by elbuscador

Whoa, if you can spring for the SPR...a late best friend helped design it. Can't go wrong there. Sorry, in the initial query I thought you meant an FAL variant, hence the "purpose" questions.

Re: New Scope for my "Tactical" rifle

September 19, 2008 by elbuscador

Hmm. Thanks for the detailed analysis.

Re: Thinking about a new "tactical" rifle.

September 19, 2008 by elbuscador

Define "tactical". Something that looks cool while you're busting prairie dogs or punching paper? or something you'll want to jump out of a plane with? There're IBA M40s and then there are Savage's that will shoot better than 99% of the people who buy them. Like the guys above said, Remington 700s are a great start. A word of warning though, once you start shooting long distance, whether it's "tactical" f-class, palma, whatever, you're in for a fun, challenging ride:-)
So, anyway, what did you want to do with this rifle?

Re: Boondock Saints

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

Unfortunately, I never got to see his show! I'd given up T.V. by then. He used to write "Drive-In movie reviews" In the paper. I'll have to see if Netflix has it. They Have MST 2000 after all.

Re: Cabella's pse Impala takedown

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

All right habs! Three Rivers is a great outfit. I shoot a 65# Bear Kodiak Magnum and a 90# Martin Longbow and get most of my accesories from Three Rivers.
Was gonna say something about compounds being for pussies, but changed my mind.
Compounds have their place, they're just not bows.

Re: Boondock Saints

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

More Willem Defoe unsung villain foo. (I know you guys probably aren't familiar with Joe Bob Briggs, I'm old) Once again "To Live and Die in L.A" and also "Streets of Fire".

Re: two new Ak's grabbed up

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

Beg to differ. Replaced the top forearm with a rail and put a Leupold Scout scope(IER) on it. Won't budge and is a sweetheart.
Also the Krebs peep that replaces the standard sight is one of the best (or worst) kept secrets in AK world.
I know, I know, I'm a fucktard since the scope and mount cost more than the rifle but...

Re: The end is near for the M4.

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

It's just too bad their gonna make up our minds for us. I have a buddy who went before one these committees a few years back as an E8. When he questioned the rifle they were considering because it was damn near impossible to shoot from the prone a general told him there was no need to shoot from the prone on the modern battlefield!
Watching these processes is like watching continental drift though, I'm sure I'll have my twenty by the time they go away from the AR platform.

Re: New Scope for my "Tactical" rifle

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

Sportsman's Guide sells Kahles? You're shittin' me! I always assume the only things not made in China that they sell is their surplus.
Ogre, I'm curious about the scope failures at LRI, especially the Leupold MIVs(Since that's what we have on all our systems)Didn't sound like a rough use course. Usually failures are because of Military type abuse, getting blown up, bad plf, whatever. They were going down from recoil? Or were there mechanical failures?(Figure this is the appropriate thread)

Re: Bushnell Trophy 1x28 red/green dot, 4 reticle sight - ?

September 18, 2008 by elbuscador

I know a lot of guys who swear by their Eotechs. Needless to say, they had to buy them they're not issued. From what I understand the issue (that got sorted) out was a battery compartment issue that arose with rough use.
Everybody who has the 68, the issue Aimpoint, likes it. And they're bombproof.
I got to wring out one of these recently, and it was very impressive;

Re: Building up a 5.45x39mm AR15

September 17, 2008 by elbuscador

Where'd you get your ammo? I have a buddy just scored a Krinkov.

Re: Top Fighting Rifles

September 13, 2008 by elbuscador

Yeah well. The M4 has its shortcomings, that's for sure, but I don't think it's the troop killer you paint it to be. My main malfunction experiences have been with blanks. Which don't count. The cartridge dilemma sucks. That's why the 6.8 was developed, so all we'd have to do is swap uppers. But we see how that went.
Bash away, but for every naysayer there'll be someone who's killed a bunch of guys with it and will say it works. What they will say about the cartridge though is that it sucks for busting through cover.
And the maintenance issue is still there.
Once again I put my vote in for the 18" M14 though

Re: I think this is an anti- Palin site but.............

September 11, 2008 by elbuscador

Actually, now that I check it out, the site has some valid points. I think aerial hunting is chickenshit as well. I know I'll get stomped for this, (but fuck it)The wolf thing? They weren't an issue until we brought in the range maggots and the slow elk. I get it if one's after your kid or dog, but because it gets to an elk before you? Move on. When I worked on ranches, we were always dropping coyotes. Did I ever see one get a healthy cow? Nope. An occasional calf maybe. My last dog was half Coyote and badass. And worked cattle like nobody's business. If you want to kill shit just to watch it bleed: enlist or go slot tweakers:-)
Palin is a hottie though. Not often women my age still look that good.

Re: OK, screw the AR and the AK.

September 11, 2008 by elbuscador

That's what I meant; M24 or M40, 110 or SR25? Same basic platforms different branches, but used tons of $ for R&D to make the choice. Military foolishness.
What's really interesting about the M110 is how much better it shoots with the can. Who'd of thunk? Oh, and the BDC on the scope is fuckin' nuts on.

Re: Top Fighting Rifles

September 11, 2008 by elbuscador

Man, are you hung up on the 6.5 or what? I'll wait until it's vetted. Messed with the 6.5 Grendel and was underwhelmed. Good friend of mine was on point with the dev. of the 6.8...but it came out for reasons other than reinventing the wheel...
Burst is silliness I agree.
Oh, and we were back on topic. Your landshark wasn't.
