With a quality +P hollowpoint like a silvertip, golden saber, or hydrashock I'm sure it will do fine if it is ever needed. But at least it's inexpensive to shoot as far as centerfire goes.
As to .40, well it's suppose to be a compact P220 pistol so who knows. But seeing as these are German police trade-ins and as I recall .40 considerably exceeds 9mm pressure ratings I wouldn't bank on it.
So as I mentioned in the rifle section I was thinking about picking up a Savage bolt action .22 LR. Well I think my plans may have changed. I was reading Kim du Tiot's blog and saw his preferred web pages for ammo purchases and I stumbled on this.

So I'm going to do a little looking at some local FFL's and see how things work out. Already found a site that sells a parts kit with factory springs and pins. Figure I'll buy a Blade Tech holster, seem to be one of the few people that make holsters for the gun, and another two spare mags. Maybe at some point if the deal goes through I'll see about refinishing it, but then again there's nothing wrong with a pistol that shows that it was actually used ether.
I liked the Broken Trail gun fight quite a bit. I also liked another of Mann's films, Collateral. There may not have been a lot of gun fighting in Collateral but what was there was clean and efficient.
The horsepower is enough to make NASA raise its eyebrows. Yet the economy is actually very good.-madogre
So Ogre is this Chevy a Duramax Diesel or gas? I really dig 3/4 ton diesel trucks.
I think the argument is really rather moot so long as we're using the .223.
Hell if it was about need I'd settle with three or four guns total...
Ya I plan on getting a CZ 452 American 16 at some point that I can suppress, but for now for just plane old plinking I can't justify the price difference between a Savage and the CZ.
I have the 502x that I use to carry, but I like having the nice MULE blade and all the tools that the Wave has. The leatherman lock back is a jack of all trades and master of none, since I had some spare pocket space I carry both.
So I'm looking to by an inexpensive .22 plinker, the one that I'm thinking about in particular is the Savage Mark-IIF. The basic model with the synthetic stock and the standard barrel. Was also giving some thought to the Marlin 925 or 981T but I've heard good things about the accutrigger on the Savages.
Any thoughts anyone?
I thought she was good looking in Shark, but then again she wasn't half metal then ether.
I would venture a guess and say that a lot of the folks that read this forum have a blade in their pocket most of the time. So what is it that's in your pocket?
Me, if I have pants on I'm more likely than not to have my KA-BAR MULE and a Leatherman Wave.
I know someone who has one of those pistols from middle sex village, of course the slack ass hasn't shot it.
The only black powder pistol I'd buy would be that Ruger revolver and even then I'd get the .45 Colt conversion cylinder.
Trigun and Cowboy Beebop, that's about as far as it goes for me.
I"m curious ioxmo, have you ever had to send one of your Hipoints back?
Which FN the PBR or the SPR?
Why do you think this is better than the M16?-littlelebowski

arrows are MUCH heavier than bullets
I had a long diatribe along those lines typed in when I made that last post, but I figured if they didn't get it already, I was probably just wasting my time trying to belabor the point so I just deleted it all.
Ya sure they're heavier but there also a hell of a lot slower.
If your shooting an arrow that ways 350 grains at 255 FPS your talking about 62 ft-lb or so. A 40 grain .22 LR can generate 102 ft-lb.
:: Sigh :: 2mm wider has NOTHING to do with it; HEAVIER has everything to do with it. Physics is physics and no matter how many discussion ending IM conversations you want to quote or personal insults you wish to fling. I have repeatedly in this thread quoted the simple equation, F=MA. You obviously are unfamiliar with it and its application. Two more millimeters allows you to fire a heavier bullet. Now before you get your panties in a wad about bullet weight alone... velocity is the second variable in that equation (hence my specification of both weight AND velocity earlier). therefore...
Bigger is not a magic recipe to instant kills
Nobody but you is claiming it is. The combination of three things increases the lethality of a round... bullet weight, velocity AND marksmanship. Appears to me you can thank your lucky stars that someone was lacking in that third commodity.
I don't think I've ever met anybody who said lethality is a simple matter of X, Y, and Z. Now I'm surely not doubting that force plays a big part in it, but at the same time I ask myself, "how does somebody take an elk, moose, or bear with an arrow if it's a simple matter of F=MA or KE=1/2MVsquared?" because an arrow flying from a bow sure as hell doesn't generate as much force as a lot of rounds people wouldn't use to hunt elk, moose, or bear.
If it isn't legal to hunt dear with because it isn't lethal enough, then it probably shouldn't be our battle rifle.
Funny I know people that do hunt with it, some who've been around hunting longer than most of us have been alive.
As to Marvels casting luck I also would ad Ray Stevenson as The Punisher (to see how much this is going to rock check out the music video montage of violence for the new movie). This is the action movie for the winter.
I saw the preview and thought it looked like a steaming pile, I hope I'm wrong.
My biggest beef is there isn't a gun on it. As to the safety and problems with it, sounds to me like the same crap the F-16 had to deal with getting off the ground, so I say only time will tell.
Just saw a midnight showing, I don't intend to ruin it for anyone. I went into this movie confused as to what the hell the movie was about, after having seen it it still seemed a bit, "what the hell just happened". But the movie was a fun action flick I thought.
I will wait until others see it to open up the discussion more.
Did he just say he wants to ban production of fission material?... So much for nuclear power.
That's not what I ment Ogre. I was saying that if Winchester was withholding the patent then it would make sense that only the rat bastard commie Norinco pigs are making the 97 because they don't give a rat's ass about patents.
How did they determine who got an ACOG and did the ACOG user have an M4 or M16?
unless someone owns the patent on it or something.
Would explain why Norinco is the only one making it.
