How does the Electorial College come into play here? Don't they decide? I'm not arguing; just asking questions.

What I Fear

October 11, 2008 by bluedog

A Federal Judge has order Obama to produce his birth certificate in response to a lawsuit by a Hilary supporter. Lots of speculation he was born out of the USA which makes him inelegible to be President. He wins the election but before he is sworn in irrefutable proof comes out he is foreign born. What happens then? Could make the
current financial meltdown seem like a mild headache.

Why do this?

Thanks for the tip. Currently going town to town in Texas promoting my employer's products so all fishing is on hold. The payoff will be some free time and a bucket of cash. Where is a good store to find them?

Guiness? Might be worth a try. Sourmash is my usual tipple. Mead is excellent but the hangover is brutal. Still, mead seems to be a Horde type drink. Palisades, CO has some excllent makers. The best route is staying sober and bitching a lot.

What a choice! The Senator from Mexico or the idiot from Illinois? This Democrat will vote McCain then get drunker than a waltzing pissant.

Thanks for the input. I can live with the "kids reel" remarks because I often have the biggest fish. I've looked at Baitcast reels but stayed away because of the backlash issue. The Shimano I have now was made in Malyasia.

Closed Face Reel

August 28, 2008 by bluedog

Anyone know of a closed faced reel for 8-12lb line NOT MADE IN CHINA? Seems I am the only male in the USA who completely screws up an open face reel and I'm sick of it. I want to spend time fishing, not fixing, and the remarks of my companions are like a saddle sore.

Old Engines vs Unleaded Fuel

August 23, 2008 by bluedog

Any advice on keeping a 1967 Dodge 383 running on unleaded without ruining the valves? Lead substitute is expensive. I can get new heads but would prefer not to spend the money. I've been told by a circle track driver to mix one quart of 30W non detergent oil per 20 gals of fuel. Anyone heard of this?

I hope the M-14's have been improved. The ones we got in 1963 jammed all the time if you fired them fast and they got hot. The stocks broke at the pistol grip if they were dropped. The worn out M-1 I turned in had better accuracy and you could butt stroke anything with it. My first payday in Germany went to the Rod and Gun club for a downpayment on a.308 Steyr.

Check the rear shock mounts for rust. One of the few week spots and a bitch to fix.

Re: SWATout of control?

August 10, 2008 by bluedog

My late brother-in-law was a county deputy. He considered himself a PEACE OFFICER. Given a stack of warrants he would drive out to the person's house or farm. He would inform them they needed to report to the county jail. He would always ask if they had child care; someone to do their chores; bail money, etc. Most would show up at the jail within a day. They knew if they didn't the next visit wouldn't be as pleasant. He didn't need a SWAT team.
He handled riots, drunks, biker gangs and politicans. On the one occasion when force was needed he double tapped two into the ten ring. He used common sense; something I rarely see in many policemen. The police are becoming paramilitary which is bad. The military job is to kill and lay waste; that is the mindset. I agree the mindset got a big boost during the Clinton years.

Pissed off Democrat

July 31, 2008 by bluedog

Watching the posturing going on in the Presidentail race makes me want to shut the whole business off. I may, just may, vote for a damned Republican for the second time in my life (Gerald Ford). Depends on the VP choice since there is a good chance McCain won't make a full term. What pisses me off the most is Congress. Nancy Pelosi is DeLay II. Not the political position but the way she runs her office. Now she wants to shut up the conservatives in radio. I don't listen to them; consider them professional blowhards but I support their right to peddle their point of view. Then we have Schumer, the senior senator from NY. This pice of shit never worked in his life. He wants to deny a firearm to any vet diagnosed with post stress. These fuckers posture and pose and get nothing done. There isn't any leadership I see in either party at the top.

This is the first year I've haven't given dime one to the Democrat party at any level. In the past I've sent $500 or more. This year I'm giving it to select local candidates.

Thanks for the opportunity to blow off some steam.

Re: Rattling timing chain in '97 Nissan pickup

Nissan uses oil pressurized timing chain tensioner. You probably have crud build up that slows oil pressure. Try a good emgine flush next oil change.
