I'm thinking of buying a semi-auto rifle in .223. Any suggestions. I want something with interchangeable parts and something I can buy for less than my first born. I am of course trying to purchase prior to 1.1.09 when a new congress and administration will ruin my rights of purchase. Gunbroker.com has some options but there are so many, I'm not sure what to go for. Anyone have experience here? Advice and insight appreciated.

What type are you thinking about? An AR? Mini-14? AK? HK? What basis are you wanting to start with and what type of rifle (purpose for the rifle) do you want to end up with?

How about a Kel-Tec SU-16? I've heard nothing but good things about those.
