Wait, what?
Get rid of the M4?

I thought the M4 was THE SHIT. I thought the M4 was perfectly fine if properly maintained! I have one that has fired 90 Thousand Million rounds and I've never cleaned or oiled it!

What? This is blasphemy! I'm sure some general out there who's son gets millions from colt or some other contract will can this project like they did the XM8. But, the fact that the generals are being forced to do something is amazing. And just so yall know, high ranking officers don't know DICK about what goes on on the battle field. They are as far removed from reality as politicians are so just because a general doesn't think we should switch, don't listen to him. His opinion is MEANINGLESS. Having been over there twice I've heard many a complaint about the M4/M16 and have seen much to complain about. It's about damn time we switched.

It's just too bad their gonna make up our minds for us. I have a buddy who went before one these committees a few years back as an E8. When he questioned the rifle they were considering because it was damn near impossible to shoot from the prone a general told him there was no need to shoot from the prone on the modern battlefield!
Watching these processes is like watching continental drift though, I'm sure I'll have my twenty by the time they go away from the AR platform.

Og' what a pot stirer!

"improvements in individual weapon performance in the areas of accuracy and dispersion ... reliability and durability in all environments, modularity and terminal performance."

In other words they want something that jams less and hits harder than a BB gun. Of course with the way things go... they'll end up with a stryker version of a rifle.

A shoulder fired revamped LAV-III would be a certain improvement. Downside would of course be bulk and weight. A C-130 can only deliver one round at a time...

A C-130 can only deliver one round at a time...

But only the K variants... the rest would have to go without.

Those who question the perfection of the M4 will be surely cast down to hell.

M-4 - Barrel too short for its small bullets to develop the physics to penetrate a car door or kill a human. Gas tube just too short to ever work.

For real 5.56mm rifles (not submachine guns with power robbing stubs), folks who are in the business of killing motherfuckers are snarfing up ammo 65-grains and up, according to Paul Markel.

And you know, if HK didn't think we sucked, I'd be so there saying we need an HK417 (14 inches, .308.)

But screw that. DSA Arms has the beautiful OSW and a dozen other rifles in .308 that can ACTUALLY FOLD SO THEY CAN BE DEPLOYED INSIDE OF VEHICLES!

Collapsing tube stock my fat, pollack ass.

I know it'd never happen, but I'd like to see the AK-103 to replace the M4.

I think I am leaning into the Magpul Masada camp... the simple modular design has advantages.

I'm having a hard time coming up with a weapon I wouldn't rather see than an M4. Maybe this guy is the one gun I'd rather not have.

You should be kicked square in the balls for posting that picture.
Twice.

Did any of those survive long enough for the users to need to reload?

It's rumored that one did, but this is unconfirmed.

Okay, I want a Masada. Can use 7.62x39? Why don't we have this?

Do any episodes of that show not include an assault rifle that could replace the M16/M4? And how many turn out just to be an armalite type that shoots a different round, or a different design shooting the same light 5.56mm NATO bullet?

I shot with Chris Costa at LRI. Dude is quite the shooter. The video says he is a Former trainer... that's not true. He's still training. We are looking at brining MagPul Dynamics to our Range for a training session.
One of the things I like about the Masada/ACR is that it doesn't ape any other weapon system... it's actually engineered from the ground up - improving everything. Switching from one caliber to another is handy. Not a critical function, but a handy one.
Let's just go ahead and order them. One for everyone.
