Anyone else share my feelings about this shotgun?
I've seen them in the hands of those wide brim hat wearing shootings... they do amazing things with them.
I've shot them, they function smooth and effeciently. Wish I could afford one.
I just wish that a reputable company, IE NOT NORINCO, was making a nice copy of it.
Ah, add in the phrase "Not Taurus". They BUTCHERED the 92.
Mine was handed down for the 4th time to me and I will give it to my son when the time comes. I was 12 when I got my hands on her. Ever other shotgun feels foreign.
I actually need to get another.....for parts. My action is getting thin in a few spots.
a friend with a passion for the old timey was looking over one of those Norinco's at the local gun shack, gave him a nice deep scratch down his thumb. the man behind the counter nodded his head sagely, and displayed the huge 30 year old scar he got from an original.
i thought it was pretty funny

shrug
Kim seemed to like his. I would have figured with a lifetime warranty there wouldn't be much issue.
Kim is a wise man, to be sure. But the Lever Gun is not in his DNA. When you compare the Puma line to other replica makes or original 92 rifles.... they fall far short. They need a lot of shooting or some good gunsmithing to make them run properly.
Now, if you want a real fine lever gun... get a Uberti 73 replica and get a short stroke kit. I tried one of those and it was absolutely brilliant. Winchester could only wish it could have made that.
OH, for some reason I had it in my head you said the 62 the little pump action .22's based off the Winchester 62. I don't know that Kim has said anything about the Puma 92, I'll admit the gun intrigued me but I want a 94 .30-30.
As to the 92 though, I have a buddy who does/did (he has young kids now so he doesn't do much shooting anymore) he was saying that damn near any lever gun you buy should be sent to a good gunsmith for an action job because the difference with any production gun would be extremely noticeable. As I recall he also said most short stroke kits don't work worth a damn, your mileage may vary.
This thread garnered a little negative email. Dudes... Lurkers out there... I am not busting on Kim. Much respect to the man. But he didn't have a Lever-Action in his Crib like I did.

I would have thought your readers would be beyond that kind of crap. That is disappointing to hear.
Anyway to the point at hand, I often wonder with the uprising of cowboy action shooting why a company like Uberti hasn't picked up the 1897. I was under the impression that the 1897 was preferred over the double guns.

People are just being defensive of Kim.
I said "Yippie Ky-ay Motherfarker" before Bruce Willis did. Just saying.
If not Uberti then Stoeger... They are wanting to do a lot of the Cowboys Action stuff... It's probably something they are considering unless someone owns the patent on it or something.
unless someone owns the patent on it or something.
Would explain why Norinco is the only one making it.
Norinco can't own that patent - no way. That would be WRONG.
So very freaking wrong.
Like they have the "rights" to build M-14's and SIG Sauer P228's.
They make 'em. They know they would be sued out of existence if they weren't protected by the Chinese Red Army. But they make 'em anyway.
Still, the NP228 would be one of the few sidearms I'd consider carrying if forced to operate inside China.
