I'd like to hear what is everyone's favorite rifle. Mind you, I don't mean what they think is the best or what's your next purchase, I'm talking about the rifle that speaks to one's soul. (or maybe just a guilty pleasure.) I'll shoot first; for some reason, perhaps a little logic in there, is the RPK. It's hard to explain, but that's what I want the most, though I realize the practicality isn't quite there, etc. Still, I love it.

For me it's my CZ 527 Carbine. First of all it was my first gun, it's a blast to shoot, points great, cheap to shoot, and is a decent round for shooting things that breath. At some point I'll mount a scope on it, but I'm in no hurry.

My favorite rifle is hands down the CZ 527 Carbine as well.

Any time I roll out into my desert, this is the rifle I take with me. It's not the hardest hitting. It's not the longest range. It's not the most accurate. But it's my absolute favorite... the thing is just a gem.

I've always liked the Scout concept, which is why I've fallen in love with the CZ 527 in 7.62mm x 39mm.

For serious bidness, though, even though the 527 would perform phenomenally in killing bad guys, I like the Robinson Arms VEPR (which I think uses the same receiver as your beloved RPK, Zack), or the Fabrique Nationale FAL.

My favorite rifle du jour is my AK. I really enjoy shooting it. It performs flawlessly. The ammunition is still rather inexpensive, but unfortunately it has a voracious appetite. Beyond that there's the satisfaction of knowing that I built it with my own hands. If I had to pick a second it'd be my M1 carbine. It's a hoot, pretty accurate and not all that inexpensive to shoot if you're using cast lead bullet hand-loads.

M1 Garand/Springfield M1A, Mosin-Nagant, and AR-15.

Even though I am smitten with my new Garand in 308, and totally dig my copy of the Ogres shortened 336 in the scout configuration with red dot , my go to rifle is my old Mini 14. I have a choate pistol grip stock and red dot on it. If the food riots hit next week, it will be the first thing I grab.

The two I wish I'd never sold, Remington 600, in 308 and a 660 in 350 Remington magnum.

Ah yeah, those 600 series are great rifles.

I've got a nice, older, Marlin 336 .30-30, with the XS ghost rings and scout rail. Still need an optic for it, but otherwise, it is great. I'm not going to bother shortning it, as it is short enough and I like my 6 rd capacity.

I don't know what it is....but I love shooting the M1-Carbine. Its another one handed down....1942 Inland. I always thought it was pretty cool that General Motors made my first combat rifle....lol

Ask me on a different day and you'll get a different answer. My current favorite is my XR100 because it's the first gun I ever shot consistently sub MOA groups with. The first time I souped up loads and took it to the range I was getting 1/2" groups one after the other, the smallest was .217". Of course having said that I haven't made two boxes of .308 and taken the 700 LTR through it's paces yet really, I just know it shoots sub MOA with Hornady TAP 168 grain loads.

You know, I don't have a Remington 700 yet...I need to rectify that sometime soon :)

My 1944 Smith-Corona 03A3, totally original and in great condition. Accurate as hell, which is more important.

I have a few in the stable, but I'd have to go with my lefty Sedgley '03 Springfield. There isn't much it won't do...

My Savage FP10 in .308 with 24" barrell and Bushnell 10x40 Elite 3200 is my favorite. It was much cheaper than any of the Remington 700 s and has a much better trigger from the factory than the Remingtons, in my opinion. I am comparing my FP10 with my other rifles which are a Mini-14 target and a Bushmaster AR-15 with a 20" heavy barrell. I regret the mini-14 purchase as in the end its oddly just ho-hum and lays stiffly in my arms. The AR-15 is fun, a pleasure to handle, but the impact point is all over the place on a windy day even at 100 yards.

The FP10 just puts a giant grin on my face to take it to the range. Handles comfortably, feels well balanced, consistently small groups without any fliers ever. I've never tried a Remington 700 however, but I'd really like to try an M1...

Hmmm. I've enjoyed shooting the M-39, the M-1 Garand, and the M-1 Carbine, but I have to say my favorites are my 1943 K-31 and Savage Mark II. I guess the Savage would have to be my favorite, as I bring it to the range every time, regardless of what else we shoot.

A lefty Ruger M-77 in .30-06. Will take anything I will ever hunt, at any reasonable range, and will (assuming I do my part) deliver 165 gr BTSPs into 3/4 MOA out to "way yonder."
