Rush Limbaugh is an Alpha-Con.
Sean Hannity.
Dennis Prager.
Neal Boortz.
These guys are some of what I call "Alpha-Cons". Leaders, Alpha Males of the Conservative Movement.
Who else do you say?

Jason Lewis who fills in for Rush from time to time.
Ben Stein.
G. Gordon Liddy

I'm not sure I'd put Boortz (my favorite host, BTW) down as a conservative. He's pretty proud of his libertarian streak, maybe your Alpha-Con definition can include libertarians that aren't wedded to pacifism.

I'm as libertarian/conservative as the next guy, but Sean Hannity is just someone I can't warm up to.  Even when I happen to agree with whatever his point du jour is, I think he's obnoxious and he usually supports a position for different reasons than I do.  I find myself wondering with him, just WHAT has Sean Hannity done or accomplished that I should listen to him?  The others on your list, say Boortz, I don't feel that way about.  Say with Boortz, I like that his positions are generally well thought out and even if I don't agree with him I can usually respect his position, and I suspect if were talking face to face he'd return the courtesy.  With Hannity ... I just don't get that feeling.  Keeping in mind Boortz and Hannity are pals, even Boortz once said of Hannity that he "thinks you should be free to live your life the way he wants you to".

I'm not so much in love with Rush. In fact, he acts like a liberal sometimes (especially in regards to popping pain killers for pleasure, not discomfort).

However, I love Gordon Liddy's books and his radio show.

Ben Stein is generally okay, though that "Intelligent Design" movie makes me question his gullibility.

I admire Rush's intelligence, but I despise his arrogance..... while he is often right on most issues, his smugness is difficult to listen to.

I really enjoy Neal Boortz, though I do not always agree with him.

With Rush and Hannity...I'm never 100% their not being fed lines via the Republican party. Staying with the script I guess you could say. I've caught Rush at it more than once.
The Republican Party may be the lesser of two evils right now, but they still deserve criticism when they're wrong.

Let me throw out another I take with a grain of salt:
Ann Coulter
She's hilarious even when I think she's over the top.

I love Michelle Malkin and Laura Ingraham seems pretty good when she hosts O'Reilly's show though I've never read anything by her or heard her show.

TED NUGENT... how did he not make this list yet?

Now there are a lot of other Alpha-Cons that are not Talking Heads or Celebrities.
Ronny Barrett, the maker of the Barrett .50 caliber rifles. That man is also an Alpha-Con, standing up to the State of California that banned his guns, but still wanted to buy them for their law enforcement agencies. Ronny denied all those sales, a huge chunk of money lost, and instead came out with the .416 Barrett which skirted the .50 ban and actually improved velocity and trajectory. That's awesome. That's giving the Liberals in California the big middle finger while at the same time reaffirming his support for the Second Ammendment and the American Shooter.

Are we talking living Alpha Cons only?

'Cuz man, William F. Buckley and Colonel Cooper belong on the list!

True that, they sure were... and they live on in their books.

Yea, I was going to mention Glenn Beck, Buckley and Ted Nugent, but someone already beat me to it.

Oliver North? Yeah sure he f-d up the Iran-Contra thing, but after he retired he has been a very active proponent for the American Military. He's been on Fox and Hannity tons and has a lot of good talking points. I haven't heard him lately, but I seem to remember him not sucking. Could be wrong tho.

North has a monthly column in Soldier of Fortune.

He's really bang on.

Oliver North went through a congressional grilling that would have ended most men. North is a good man, supports the troops and freedom. That's all I need to know about him.
