I kept watching Star Trek, though I always found any talk of how wonderful Federation society was irritating. It was after all a society that would leave entire civilisations to die because they weren't deemed advanced enough, and a disappointing amount of episodes were just plain awful. A least one a season.
B5 on the other hand stands out as one of the best sci-fi shows even ten years later, aside from the Lost Tales which was more of Star Trek: The Next Generation quality. When some gives an order to shoot at the big alien space ship, I like to see an effects sequence of the big alien space ship getting shot rather than just seeing someone with odd lumps on his forehead telling everyone that it has been done.

What I don't get about Trek is how so many guys go Ga-ga over "Seven of Nine". She isn't even pretty. She's rather butch looking but with big cones. I've not impressed with her at all. The facial appliances = alien or other non-human thing is STUPID. I want aliens to look like freaking aliens. Ridges on the forehead do not look alien - they look retarded.

I thought she was good looking in Shark, but then again she wasn't half metal then ether.

I didn't quite get the Seven of Nine thing either, and the padding was just plain ridiculous. It's not confined to Voyager either, Enterprise also went down the route of sticking a woman in the tightest catsuit available. That actress looked far better as the Jaffa priestess in Stargate SG-1.

I never understood the sexual appeal of Seven of Nine, but Jeri Ryan herself is another matter. She's a smart, talented and funny person. From guest stints on Boston Legal and Two and a Half Men (with hilarious performances there) and her regular starring runs on Boston Public and Shark, she truly has been able to show many great, attractive qualities when playing roles for grown ups.

And frankly, we have to remember, Seven of Nine was there to be a spandex pillar to keep Star Trek: Voyager from collapsing. She wasn't meant to be there to ACT. She was meant to be something for sexually constipated nerds to magnetize to.
