Ok, so the Supra in my avatar suffers from a slight case of blowby, resulting in smoking valve covers (open PCV). Well i put it up and pulled the plate and bought me an Altima to get around in.

I have been trying to fix and or sell the thing for a month. Since no one was interested I decided to pull the I6 turbo and install a 6.0 LQ4 v8, with a hotcam, L92 heads, carb intake, headers and a reverse manual shifting th400. Sounds nice right. After offsetting the cost of the new outfit by selling parts off the car id be about 3k in the hole.

Well I was inspecting spare block i have (this is not the first incident with a 7m ive had to tackle) and it looks like i can clean it up and bolt it together with parts from the current engine for around $600. So the 7m is going back in. I swore i wouldn't do this a 4th time but the difference in $ is way too big to pass up.

Before this last incident I was posting 469 hp on my belltronics accelerometer at 19.3 PSI.

I expect a few more since I'm adding a larger intercooler and upping the boost slightly. I'm hoping to hit the magical half millenium this time.

Wish me luck that this works guys. I start taking down the current motor tomorrow night.

I was able to crank out 600 with an aftermarket intercooler, a custom chip, a large single stage turbo with a digital bypass valve and a Centerforce dual clutch. It could accelerate so hard it could give you whiplash. The downside was this was too much power for the rear end and the pinion gear back there started grinding teeth.

I'm making it a weekend driver this time, so i may go with cryo treated rods for an extra few bills. The turbo is capable of 30 psi and its a stainless T04E, I just haven't gone there so I don't pop a rod. I'm looking for fast but I'm also trying for practical to drive around. I'm using an RPS blue plate special clutch with a street disk to keep chatter to a minimum. I have seen 500 whp posted religiously with cryo'd stock rods, so I'm leaning that direction. I was already making low 12 sec passes. I just wanna break into the 11's before the targa top warps :)

Oh the Supra will do that... no worries there. I don't know if it can do that on a half G of power... but depending on your torque, it's possible.

yeah, I know. I just wanna be back in the running with some of the hotter stock stuff out there. I was smoking vettes and a lot of the 911's in town before their latest models came out. I also don't figure on having 11's right away anyway. I'll have to step it up a notch, so I'm looking at a set of Eagle H-beams for it so I can up the boost some.

LOL... Oh hell yes. I did that too here in Utah. With the Top Down and a sexy Blonde in the seat next to me. The 911 blew his engine trying to keep up going south over Point of the Mountain. He never made it over that day. Pitty. We did though.

So Ogre, whatever happen to your Supra then?

Got to say, I think some of these Japanese cars represent what the old American muscle car was. Relatively inexpensive cars that can be made to do some serous damage on the street if someone is willing to do the wrench time.

My fave is I have a flow 3" in and dual 2.5" out with twin pipes. I piss all the v8 boys off with that. Esp when they leave me by a car lenth or so with their CID and then I blow past them of full boost and let the BOV rip. I was catching scratch in 2nd and 3rd with 275/35/R18's out back. I'm looking onto cryo treating the pistons, rods and rings this time. All I want is around a 12 flat. Even low 12's will be OK, but I don't wanna lose to anything less than $70K if I can avoid it.

the exhaust before I ran it out the back Mustang style.

I had to sell it... I needed more room. Actually, no, I traded it straight across for a Jeep Cherokee. HUGE bloody mistake.

Whoa... that sounds great.

I'll have to get a vid now that the pipes are out the back. slight rumble inside and a bloody symphony of power outside. the car still runs but it it has a noticable lack of compression.

I posted 469 hp on the belltronics with the flowmaster, which is more restrictive than a standard import performance can. i set the weight at 3800 though and its closer to 4000 with driver, so it may hacve more like 500 bhp already.

It was starved for oil, the heads look good but I'm going to bring the heads and block to the shop thursday to have them checked. The block has to be bored and pistons bought. I priced out rebuilding it stock and found that for 600 more I can make it a 402 forged stroker motor with 10.5-11:1 compression. Probably some block hugger headers to clear the frame, but the assmbled V8 is the same length as the bare I6 so I should be able to set the weight of the block back an extra 6 inches for even better balance and handling. Then the V8 is 15lbs heavier than the I6 turbo so dropping the intercooler will make up the weight difference.

Holley 750 double pumper and an Edlebrock Victor Jr intake, with MSD 40K volt coils run by their laptop tuned, ignition control module for carbs. GMPP hotcam kit with Z06 valve springs and a 4L80 HD slushbox with a vacuum modulator and a shiftkit.

The stock heads are larger versions of the 2002 Z06 LS6 heads, but I may get the L92's for $1100 since they flow as much below 6000 rpm as the LS7 7.0 heads do :)

I'm looking at a very conservative 480-550 BHP with 475+ ft-lbs of torque with 300+ ft-lbs available below 3000 rpm.
