Making simple macros for my own amusment. The SCAR-H will NEVER be a SI service rifle.
I'm here for LOLs. The spooky sf guys are using SCARs, that's why they're interesting. But ya know, I don't see why they don't put the front sight close to the muzzle. WTF? Wasted sight plain.

That was more directed toward G-man who got snippy when I called that project "vaporware." Yes, they're out there, and so are HK 417's (7.62mm M4's by people who think civilians suck - YAY!) Sorry man. (BTW - love the LOLARs)

I'm not that worked up about this. The next time I'm likely to touch a real infantry rifle is when the FX-05s start oozing into the black market.

Me either. I'm just on the hypothetical bus... and... wait, this is the short bus! NOOOOO!

I think now we should move into the second phase of the circus.

How to improve the M16 and it's relatives without actually replacing the whole line.
I getta go furst!
1)Fixed charging handle on the right side of the bolt carrier, like, you know...the AK.
2)Shorter stock, or a more rugged collapsable stock.
3)18in barrel chambered in 6.5MPC. Switch out the barrels on the SAW too. Uses the same mags, belt links, and bolt heads. Easy to do.

You take over.

Huh?

Yeah, if we swap out whole uppers instead of just replacing the barrels, I'd go for a piston. They could use one of those small ones that fit under the same handguards.

Well, it was a mix up on both our parts.

You wanted the 7.62mm rifle.

I was thinking SCAR-H and you meant the M-14.

The SCAR-H was the vaporware (ie: not around in sufficient amounts to be thrown into our guys' hands.)

Shame too - I saw LWRC's Sabre 7.62mm with a 12 inch barrel.

Now THAT'S a house fighter. And the Sabre doesn't have those gas tube issues.

Howzabout a real folding stock.

An AR-18 would be great, especially with 80-grain rounds. 20 inch barrel, but a real folder, and a good cocking handle, I'd go with it even if it were only a .22.

Wait. ya gotsa keep the original lower at least and the buffer assy.

I sez 18in barrel for the basic service rifle, 24in barrel for the DMR. An 80grner out of a 24in barrel would be pretty spiffy.

How about the pulse rifles from "Aliens?"

Yeah. We've got millions of hours of muscle memory.

You know, if HK weren't such wankers, the 417 would be awesome.

Not the 416, the 417.

But nein! We suck!

I'm done... Just tired of trying to argue common sense with someone who prefers "perfectly adequate" to "the absolute best" when it comes to arming our troops. Sure IED's are a problem... So get our folks out of hummers and strykers and into proper IED & RPG resistant armored vehicles. Find and deploy the best IED detection and removal technology... By all means! But why stop there (especially when we spend so little on small arms when compared to other high dollar budget items like up-armoring vehicles that were never designed to be armored in the first place)?

Because the small arms are not a problem as long as said small arms are maintained and supplied with proper mags.  Check the mag-related problems on the dust test.  I'd rather spend the money on body armor.  I have common sense; I just realize that this is not a perfect world with unlimited funds.

As I recall though the price on the M468 is beyond ridiculous.

Why do you think this is better than the M16?

This is the Ultimate Tactical Weapon System for Operators. Maybe we need a new gun for the military because the AR's, like a has-been actor has lost all dignity. This is the Cory Feldman of guns here.
